PROJECT:
"80s Home to Vintage Home"
This was a very dated, two-story 80's home. For example, the odd-shaped kitchen was confined in a dark space in the back corner of the house. We engineered the removal of a bearing wall to open the kitchen to the large family area and added a wood clad window at the sink area - both of which gave light to the kitchen. We also:

-
installed custom cherry shaker cabinets with granite counters that provided a working area of 360 degrees.
-
used a down draft cook to oven to allow for ventilation while cooking while leaving the island space unobstructed by a conventional overhead vent hood.
-
did the floors in a 12-piece French pattern, and the material used was brushed and chiseled travertine with matching grout.
-
refinished the fireplace with a 2" thick, tumbled travertine with a honed slate interior border.
-
built the mantle with 5 quarter solid cherry.
-
hand drew and fabricated the miniature corbels in our shop to match the corbels at the island overhang, as well as the large lighted valance over the island.
-
finished the walls in acrylic Venetian plaster for a modeled look.
The owner wanted modern yet old world look and that is what we designed and built to her satisfaction
